Quartz with hollandite is found at Anketsaketsa, near Ambatofinandrahana,
province of Fianarantsoa, in the central highland of Madagascar.
Quartz is found in large druses of usually small crystals less than 10
cm long. The star shaped acicular aggregates of hollandite are included
usually near the top of the crystals. For that
reason is quite difficult to cut big stones and often gemstones have
free or hexagonal shape. In Madagascar this quartz is called kintana, star
in Malagasy language.
